1. How do I book a move with Moose Moving?
Contact us by phone, email, or fill out our Quote Form!
To confirm a booking, you must:
- Provide accurate details about your move.
- Sign the contract.
- Pay the $200 non-refundable deposit.
- Receive a confirmation email.
Moves are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
2. How is your pricing structured?
We charge by the hour, with time billed in 30-minute increments. Time starts when the crew leaves our Waterloo truck yard and ends when they return, including:
- Travel time
- Loading/unloading
- Breaks and idle time
- Final payment processing
Estimates are not guaranteed or fixed quotes—moves may take more or less time than expected.
3. What payment methods do you accept?
- E-transfer
- Credit card (4% convenience fee applies)
- Cash
Final payment is due during the last 30 minutes of unloading.
4. Do you provide packing materials or services?
Yes. We offer:
- Full packing services (extra charges apply)
- Packing materials like wardrobe boxes, shrink wrap, and mattress bags
Let us know in advance if you'd like us to help pack.
5. Can I pack my own items?
Yes, but we are not liable for damage to items you pack yourself (known as PBO—Packed by Owner). Boxes must be:
- Fully closed and taped
- Labeled clearly
- Weigh under 50 lbs
Fragile items should be professionally packed or transported personally.
6. Do you move specialty or oversized items?
We can move items like pianos, safes, and gym equipment if it’s safe to do so. Let us know in advance if you have items over 300 lbs or unusually shaped pieces.
We do not move hot tubs, waterbeds, or items deemed unsafe.
7. What if my belongings don’t fit in the truck?
We size trucks based on U-Haul’s home size guidelines. If your items exceed capacity, we’ll need to make an additional trip, which will be billed at the hourly rate.
8. What happens if there's bad weather?
We may delay or reschedule moves due to:
- Dangerous weather
- Unsafe site conditions
- Vehicle or mechanical failure
We’ll always aim to reschedule at the earliest safe opportunity.
9. Are there any items you won’t move?
Yes. For safety and legal reasons, we will not transport:
- Flammable or hazardous materials (e.g., gas, paint, fireworks)
- Ammunition, firearms (unless pre-approved in locked cases)
- Perishables, plants, or pets
- Illegal substances
10. Can I ride in the truck or help with the move?
No. For safety and insurance reasons:
- Clients are not allowed inside our trucks.
- If you assist with the move, Moose Moving is not responsible for any damage or injury that occurs.
11. Will you disconnect appliances or electronics?
No. We do not handle disconnection or reconnection of any appliances or wiring. You must prep all appliances ahead of time. This includes:
- Removing shipping bolts from washers
- Emptying fridges, freezers, and appliances
- Disconnecting electronics and power cords
12. Are my items insured?
We include basic cargo and liability coverage at $0.60/lb per item. For higher coverage, third-party insurance is recommended. Claims must:
- Be reported within 3 days
- Be documented on the Bill of Lading
- Include proof of damage and photos
13. What if something is damaged?
Note it on the Bill of Lading before signing. Then, email us within 3 days at moosemovingkw@gmail.com with photos and documentation. We’ll respond within 14 business days.
14. Do you offer storage or POD services?
Yes. We offer:
- Secure, climate-controlled storage through local partners
- Loading/unloading for PODs and third-party trucks (but not transportation)
15. What if I need to change my move details last minute?
Contact us ASAP. We’ll do our best to accommodate, but:
- Additional work may be rescheduled
- Extra charges may apply for labor, time, or materials
16. Are tips expected?
Tips are appreciated but never expected. If you’d like to tip, cash is preferred and is split among the crew unless you request otherwise.
