Schedule “A” – Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Moose Moving! We’re here to make your move smooth, efficient, and as stress-free as possible. To ensure everyone’s on the same page, here’s a comprehensive list of our terms and conditions. By booking with Moose Moving, you agree to these terms.

Booking & Scheduling

Accurate details must be provided at the time of booking. Misrepresentation of the move’s size, complexity, or access limitations may result in delays, rescheduling, or additional charges.

  • All moves are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • A booking is only confirmed once the contract is signed, the $200 non-refundable deposit is paid, and a confirmation email has been issued.

  • Moose Moving reserves the right to reschedule moves due to:

  • Severe weather

  • Unsafe site conditions

  • Vehicle or mechanical failure

  • Moose Moving also reserves the right to subcontract or assign your move to another qualified team while maintaining our service standards.

Pricing & Billing

  • Moose Moving charges an hourly rate, billed in 30-minute increments, with time running continuously from departure from our Waterloo truck yard until return.

  • Billing includes all time for:

  • Labor and loading/unloading

  • Travel to and from the job site

  • Breaks and idle time

  • Equipment stowing and final payment processing

  • Google Maps will be used to estimate return time to the truck yard for final billing.

  • Materials such as shrink wrap, mattress bags, boxes, and similar supplies are not included in the hourly rate unless explicitly stated.

  • All prices are plus HST, unless otherwise noted.

  • A 4% convenience fee applies to credit card payments.

  • Accepted payment methods: e-transfer, credit card, or cash only.

  • Payment is due during the final 30 minutes of unloading. Final billing will include:

  • All active labor up to that point

  • An additional 30 minutes for final unloading

  • Estimated return time to the yard

  • Customers must be prepared with extra cash to cover unanticipated costs and avoid delay. Any wait time for payment will be billed at the hourly rate.

Estimates & Additional Charges:

  • Estimates include:

  • Hourly labor

  • Truck fees

  • KM/travel fees

  • Appliance handling

  • Dump/disposal fees

  • Extra stops

  • Piano handling

  • Overnight holds

  • End-of-month surcharges

  • All estimates are based on hourly rates and are not “Not-to-Exceed” quotes. Moving times can vary based on many factors beyond our control.

  • Additional labor requested on-site will result in rate adjustments.

  • If an elevator is required but unavailable, the job may be rescheduled at the customer’s expense. Delays due to elevators will be billed at the standard hourly rate.

Miscalculations & Invoice Corrections

If an error is made by Moose Moving on any invoice, contract, or related documentation, and later identified by our billing department, the customer agrees to be responsible for the corrected total, which may include:

  • (A) Actual total time worked

  • (B) Applied discounts (if any)

  • (C) Travel time

  • (D) Fuel or KM charges

  • (E) Insurance coverage (if applicable)

  • (F) Packing materials used

  • (G) Storage fees (if applicable)

  • (H) Any other itemized services

By signing the agreement, the customer authorizes Moose Moving to adjust the final invoice and process any updated charges using the payment method provided.

Tolls, Dump Fees & Additional Charges

The customer is responsible for all third-party charges incurred during the move, including but not limited to:

  • Highway tolls

  • Municipal dump or disposal fees

  • Any other necessary service charges

These will be added to the final invoice and are not included in base pricing unless otherwise stated.

Expectations Around Time and Efficiency

Moose Moving understands that customers may have expectations regarding how long their move should take. However, every move is unique, and numerous factors—such as item volume, home layout, access, packing quality, and unforeseen circumstances—can affect the total duration.

Our crews are professionally trained to work efficiently and safely, and they are instructed never to delay, waste time, or “stretch the clock.” We take pride in our team’s ability to maintain a strong pace while prioritizing the protection of your belongings, property, and personal safety.

Please note:

  • Moose Moving does not provide fixed time guarantees, as actual moving time may differ from your personal estimates.

  • The crew’s focus is on safe handling, proper loading techniques, and minimizing risk of damage—not speed at the expense of care.

  • Time is billed based on actual labor and travel, rounded to the nearest 30-minute increment, as clearly outlined in your agreement.

  • Any perceptions of time inefficiency should be reported immediately during the move to the on-site crew lead or Moose management, not after the job is complete.

By booking with Moose Moving, you acknowledge that our time-based billing reflects the real and necessary work performed by a trained and conscientious crew, and that safety and professionalism take precedence over rushing.

Truck Size & Load Limits

Truck size is assigned based on U-Haul’s home size guidelines, which can be reviewed at:
👉
https://www.uhaul.com/Truck-Rentals/Moving-Truck-Sizes/

  • It is the customer’s responsibility to accurately assess and communicate the volume of items to be moved.

  • If the actual volume exceeds the truck’s capacity, Moose Moving may not be able to complete the move in a single trip.

  • Any additional trips required due to excess volume will be billed at the standard hourly rate.

  • Moose Moving is not liable for delays, rescheduling, or incomplete service caused by underestimated load volume.

Please ensure that your item list aligns with the appropriate truck size to avoid complications or added costs.

PACKING AND PREPARATION RESPONSIBILITIES

To ensure a smooth and efficient move, Moose Moving requires that all items be properly packed and prepared prior to the crew’s arrival. The client is solely responsible for appropriate packing unless otherwise arranged in advance.

Special Item Preparation

Certain items require specific steps prior to moving. Please ensure the following:

  • Refrigerators & Freezers: Must be emptied and defrosted prior to transport. These items can be loaded last and unloaded first upon request.

  • Aquariums: Must be completely empty of water and any living organisms.

  • Grandfather Clocks: Remove pendulums, chimes, and weights.

  • Lawn Equipment: All gasoline and oil must be drained from lawnmowers, trimmers, chainsaws, etc.

  • BBQs: Remove propane tanks and empty all drip trays.

  • Drawers: Must be emptied unless containing soft, lightweight items (e.g., clothing, linens) in minimal quantities.

  • Furniture: Should be disassembled in advance whenever possible.

  • Boxes: Must be properly sealed with tape, clearly labeled, and weigh no more than 50 lbs each.

  • Electronics: Televisions should be packed in original boxes if available. We will blanket-wrap and secure electronics, but Moose Moving is not liable for internal damage without visible external signs.

  • Firearms: May only be transported in locked hard cases or safes and must be fully disclosed and documented prior to moving. No live ammunition is permitted.

  • High-Value or Personal Items: Items such as cash, jewelry, passports, medications, essential documents, and sentimental belongings should be transported personally. Moose Moving assumes no liability for loss or damage to these items if left for transport.

PACKING & UNPACKING SERVICES

Moose Moving offers professional packing services and a full line of packing materials, including wardrobe boxes, upon request. Clients may either pack their own belongings or request assistance from our trained crew.

Fragile & High-Risk Items

  • Client-Packed Fragile Items: Fragile goods such as glassware, ceramics, and artwork should be self-transported or professionally packed. If these items are moved by Moose in unpacked or improperly packed condition, they will not be covered under any damage protection.

  • Professionally Packed by Moose: Items packed by Moose Moving will be covered under your selected insurance option. Additional material and labor fees apply.

  • Packed by Owner (PBO): Items packed by the client are classified as PBO. Moose Moving assumes no responsibility for damage to PBO items unless due to direct negligence.

  • Material Refusal Waiver: If you decline recommended packing services or materials, you will be required to sign a waiver confirming that Moose Moving is not liable for damage resulting from improper packing.

For peace of mind, we recommend having Moose pack all delicate or high-value items professionally.

CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES & PBO GUIDELINES

To support an efficient and successful move, the following responsibilities apply to all clients:

Personal Items

Please separate and transport essential personal items in your own vehicle. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Wallets, keys, passports, jewelry, cash, medications

  • Important paperwork, legal documents, and sentimental keepsakes

  • TV remotes, modem/routers, and cable boxes

If left unattended or boxed, these may be mistakenly loaded and difficult to locate later.

Packing Standards

If you are packing your own boxes (PBO), please follow these guidelines:

  • Each box must weigh less than 50 lbs

  • Boxes must be fully closed, taped securely, and labeled clearly (top and side) with both contents and destination room

  • Fragile boxes must be clearly marked “FRAGILE” and indicate upright positioning with arrows

  • Open-top or improperly sealed boxes may be refused for transport

  • Moose Moving is not liable for damage to PBO boxes unless gross negligence is demonstrated

CUSTOMER DUTIES ON MOVE DAY

To ensure a safe and timely process, the following are expected:

  • Be present or appoint an authorized representative

  • Provide clear instructions and review/sign all required paperwork

  • Ensure all items are packed and ready for transport, unless unpacking services were pre-booked

  • Clearly label all boxes and secure fragile contents

  • Ensure children and pets are kept out of work areas for their safety and that of the crew

SITE ACCESS & SAFETY

Safe Pathways & Access

Clients are responsible for ensuring that all access points—including walkways, driveways, and entrances—are safe, clear, and accessible on moving day. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Shoveling and salting icy or snowy paths in winter

  • Notifying Moose Moving in advance of any known obstacles, such as steep inclines, unpaved roads, loose gravel, or restricted access zones

Moose Moving will not drive trucks or equipment:

  • Over lawns or freshly installed gravel

  • On steep or unstable grades

  • Onto sidewalks, pathways, or areas not rated for vehicle traffic

Moose Moving assumes no liability for damage or costs associated with difficult or unsafe access, including but not limited to:

  • Lawn or landscaping damage

  • Cracked or broken pavement

  • Damage to underground systems (e.g., septic fields, sprinklers)

  • Tow truck or vehicle recovery costs

All lost time due to poor access, delays, or repositioning of vehicles will be billed at the standard hourly rate.

ACCESS, OBSTRUCTIONS & PARKING

Clients must ensure clear, unobstructed paths at both the origin and destination. Time spent waiting for access or clearing obstructions is fully billable.

  • If parking permits are required, it is the client's responsibility to obtain them in advance

  • A minimum 30–40 feet of legal and practical parking clearance is required for the moving truck

  • Any parking tickets or related fines incurred during the move are the sole responsibility of the client

  • If parking is unavailable upon arrival, time spent locating or waiting for parking will be billed accordingly

PEST CONTROL POLICY

If Moose Moving personnel identify evidence of pests (e.g., bedbugs, cockroaches, fleas, or ticks) in any item or at any location involved in the move, the crew is legally required to stop work immediately to comply with health and safety regulations.

In such cases:

  • The full quoted amount for the move will still be charged, regardless of completion

  • Moose will not return until a certified pest control provider has treated the property

  • Rescheduling and related expenses are the responsibility of the client

To avoid disruption and additional cost, please ensure that all items and areas are cleaned and inspected thoroughly prior to the scheduled move.

THEFT & SECURITY POLICY

Moose Moving is not liable for any lost or stolen property during the moving process. While our team handles your belongings with care and professionalism, we cannot guarantee constant surveillance of:

  • The moving truck while open

  • Entryways or hallways in shared or unsecured buildings

  • Loading docks or parking areas

If you are concerned about theft, especially in high-traffic or public areas, it is your responsibility to arrange supervision of the moving zones. This may include:

  • Having a trusted individual monitor the open truck

  • Stationing someone at building access points

  • Keeping valuables secured or self-transported

Although theft is rare, we strongly recommend taking preventive steps to safeguard your property.

UNUSUAL OR TIGHT SPACES

Moose Moving is not responsible for damage incurred when attempting to move items into difficult or restricted areas. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Tight stairwells and sharp corners

  • Balconies, lofts, or second-floor landings

  • Narrow doorways, hallways, or elevators

  • Adverse weather or slippery surfaces

If the client instructs Moose to proceed despite the risks, a liability waiver must be signed in advance. Moves requiring non-standard procedures—such as hoisting, lifting over railings, or use of special equipment—are subject to additional charges.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS & TOOLS

Moose Moving is not responsible for disassembly, reassembly, or safe handling of items that require special instructions unless the client:

  • Provides clear, written instructions in advance of the move

  • Supplies any specialty tools or components required

If such details are not provided, Moose reserves the right to decline service on the item or proceed at the client’s risk and expense.

PREPARATION CHECKLIST

To avoid delays, damages, or additional charges, clients should complete the following before move day unless otherwise agreed:

  • Disassemble furniture, beds, and large units

  • Empty drawers from furniture and cabinets unless they contain light, soft contents (e.g., clothing)

  • Fully empty and clean aquariums

  • Remove pendulum, weights, and chimes from grandfather clocks

  • Disclose any large specialty items (e.g., piano, pool table); Moose does not move hot tubs or waterbeds

  • Empty fridges and freezers completely before transport (we will load last and unload first)

  • Be prepared for a final walk-through with the crew to ensure all items are accounted for and the truck is fully cleared

HIGH VALUE & EXCLUDED ITEMS

High-Value Items

Clients must disclose any items of high monetary or sentimental value prior to the move, both at the time of booking and again to the crew lead on-site. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Antiques and family heirlooms

  • Fine art, collectibles, and rare manuscripts

  • Jewelry, precious metals, and currency

  • Items with declared values exceeding typical replacement cost

Such items may require:

  • Specialized handling procedures

  • Additional protective materials or crating

  • Separate third-party insurance coverage

Failure to disclose high-value items in advance may result in denial of any damage or loss claims. Moose Moving does not repack items during the move—any item improperly packed travels at the client’s own risk and voids liability coverage. If you are unsure whether an item qualifies, please speak to your Moose Moving coordinator in advance.

Excluded Valuables

For safety, legal, and insurance reasons, Moose Moving is not liable for loss or damage to high-risk valuables including, but not limited to:

  • Cash

  • Jewelry or personal valuables

  • Legal documents, passports, or securities

  • Fine art, collectibles, or irreplaceable items

Clients are advised to transport these items themselves.

Prohibited Items

Moose Moving will not transport the following items under any circumstances:

  • Flammable gases or liquids (e.g., propane tanks, gasoline, paint, solvents)

  • Explosives, firearms, ammunition, fireworks, or weapons

  • Hazardous materials (e.g., bleach, thinners, aerosol cans, lithium batteries)

  • Pressurized containers (e.g., fire extinguishers)

  • Perishables (open food, meat, dairy, etc.)

  • Pets or live animals

  • Plants or other living organisms

  • Waterbeds, hot tubs, or certain oversized safes or pianos (inquire in advance)

  • Illegal or controlled substances

If any prohibited item is packed or transported without Moose Moving’s prior knowledge:

  • All liability is void

  • The client is responsible for all resulting damages or contamination

  • The client will be liable for any fines, legal action, disposal, warehousing fees, or delays

  • The move may be suspended or cancelled without refund

FRAGILE ITEMS

Glass, Porcelain & Ceramics

Moose Moving assumes no liability for breakage of glass, porcelain, ceramic, or similarly fragile items unless the following conditions are met:

  • Items are professionally packed using industry-standard materials

  • The client has purchased appropriate packaging or third-party insurance coverage

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Mirrors and glass table tops

  • Framed artwork with glass

  • Porcelain or ceramic dishes, collectibles, and figurines

  • Display cabinets with glass inserts

We strongly recommend using original manufacturer packaging or approved cartons. Otherwise, these items travel at the client’s own risk.

INVENTORY & DAMAGE CLAIMS

Inventory & Pre-Move Condition

Clients are encouraged to take a full inventory of all items prior to the move. Moose Moving may photograph or document item condition upon request as an optional add-on service.

Moose Moving is not responsible for damage to items packed by the client (PBO), or for internal damage to electronics not visibly apparent at time of delivery.

Elevator Access & Delays

Clients are responsible for:

  • Booking elevator access at both origin and destination (if applicable)

  • Communicating elevator booking times to Moose Moving in advance

  • Ensuring elevator padding or protection if required by the building

Delays due to elevator unavailability, shared use, missed booking windows, or building restrictions are fully billable at the standard hourly rate. Moose Moving is not liable for missed elevator reservations or delays imposed by building staff or other tenants.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

General Exclusions

Moose Moving is not liable for:

  • Pre-existing damage

  • Items improperly packed or prepared by the client (PBO)

  • Electronics that malfunction without visible external damage

  • Items moved contrary to staff recommendation

  • Items requiring disassembly that were not disassembled prior to the move

Minor Damage Disclaimer

Minor wear and tear is an inherent risk of moving. Moose Moving is not liable for minor damages unless caused by gross negligence. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Small scratches, dings, or scuffs on furniture

  • Minor wall marks or paint chips

  • Small rips, punctures, or dents

Clients must prove negligence to substantiate a claim. The client acknowledges these risks as part of engaging a moving service, and Moose Moving takes all reasonable precautions to prevent such occurrences.

CLAIMS & INSURANCE

Submitting a Claim

To file a damage claim:

  1. Notify Moose Moving in writing (via email to: moosemovingkw@gmail.com) within 3 days of the move

  2. Document the damage on the Bill of Lading before the crew departs

  3. Provide all supporting evidence, including photos, receipts, and inventory

Moose Moving will respond to claims within 14 business days. Claims submitted after the 3-day window will be considered void.

Coverage & Valuation

Moose Moving provides basic cargo and liability coverage at the standard legal limit of $0.60/lb per item.

  • Coverage applies to repair or depreciated value, whichever is lower

  • Moose reserves the right to repair damages using a professional before considering any reimbursement

  • All invoices must be paid before a claim can be processed; withholding payment is not permitted and may constitute fraud

Clients seeking full coverage or higher value protection must obtain third-party insurance prior to the move.

PROOF OF DAMAGE POLICY

To help ensure the integrity of our claims process, Moose Moving requires the following when a damage claim is submitted:

  • Dated photographic proof that the item was undamaged within 7 days prior to the move

  • Verifiable evidence that the damage resulted from Moose Moving crew negligence

  • An itemized inventory or description of the damaged item(s)

Clients may request Moose Moving to perform a formal inventory and condition assessment before the move for an additional fee.

Verbal notations of damage observed by Moose Moving staff are non-binding unless documented in writing. The burden of proof lies with the client to demonstrate that damage was:

  • Not pre-existing, and

  • Directly caused by negligent handling by Moose Moving personnel

This policy exists to protect the interests of both our clients and staff, and to help prevent fraudulent or unsupported claims.

Weather & Safety

Moose Moving reserves the right to delay or cancel service in the event of extreme weather or unsafe conditions. We will not move items through hazardous environments, including but not limited to icy stairs or obstructed walkways.

Appliances

  • Moose Moving does not disconnect or reconnect any appliances.

  • We are not liable for damage resulting from disconnection, reconnection, or internal appliance failures.

  • We are not responsible for dents, scratches, or marks on appliances unless gross negligence has occurred. Most appliances are constructed from thin, easily dented materials.

  • We do not guarantee the working condition of appliances after they are unplugged. Many appliances, especially older ones, may cease to function post-move due to unrelated internal wear.

  • Customers moving front or top-load washers are required to arrange a third-party appliance technician to install shipping bolts before moving.

  • All appliances must be emptied—no groceries, frozen goods, or other contents may be left inside during the move.

Electronics, TVs & Mechanical Equipment

  • These items must be packed in original boxes when possible.

  • We are not liable for internal damage without visible external damage, or for post-move functionality.

  • Customers are responsible for testing and confirming the condition of electronics and appliances before and after the move.

Televisions

  • Flat-screen TVs are extremely delicate and must be handled with care. Moose Moving will blanket-wrap and secure TVs but recommends that all televisions be packed in original boxes with foam inserts or specialty TV cartons.
    Important Notes:

  • Moose is not liable for TVs unless packed in proper TV cartons.

  • Functionality claims will only be considered with visible external damage.

  • Insurance coverage is void unless TVs are packed by the customer or a certified third party.

  • TV cartons may be purchased separately and must be packed/sealed by the customer.

  • TVs transported without proper packaging are moved at the customer's risk.

Mechanical Condition Unknown (MCU) Items

Moose Moving is not responsible for the working condition of electronic, mechanical, or sensitive items, including:

  • Grandfather clocks

  • Appliances

  • Any item classified as MCU

To be eligible for any liability consideration:

  • Items must be properly packed in original or industry-standard protective packaging.

  • Loose or inadequately packed items are excluded from all liability.

Examples of items excluded from coverage if improperly packed include (but are not limited to):

  • TVs

  • Computers, laptops, tablets

  • DVD/CD players, speakers, gaming consoles

  • Kitchen appliances

  • Lamps and lampshades

  • Mirrors and artwork

  • Marble, granite, or ceramic surfaces

  • Statues, sculptures, glass items

  • Curtain rods or light fixtures

  • Dishes, china, glassware

  • Sewing machines, typewriters, specialty tools

We recommend these items be boxed securely, labeled as fragile, and transported separately when possible. Original packaging offers the best protection.

Electric Recliners & Couches

  • Oversized electric furniture must be disassembled prior to moving.

  • Batteries and power cords should be removed and labeled clearly.

  • Clients must disconnect all electronics and power sources before movers arrive.

Important Notes:

  • Electric couches are difficult to maneuver due to bulk and limited sliding capability.

  • Protective padding can add size and complexity.

  • Plastic wrap reduces grip and increases drop risk.

  • Exposed cords are highly vulnerable to damage.

If not disassembled or prepped, Moose Moving may refuse to move the item or require a liability waiver to proceed.

Floors, Walls & Property Surfaces

  • We will use floor runners and padding where possible.

  • Minor scuffs, scratches, and dings may occur and are not covered unless caused by gross negligence.

  • We are not liable for damage caused by restricted spaces like tight corners, low ceilings, or narrow stairwells.

Pressed Board & Fragile Furniture

Items made from particleboard, MDF, or other fragile materials (e.g., IKEA-style flat-pack furniture) are not designed for relocation once assembled and are excluded from insurance.
This includes:

  • Furniture using cam locks, screw-in fasteners, or laminated surfaces

  • Items with paper, plastic, or veneer finishes prone to peeling, splitting, or delaminating

We will move these items carefully but do not accept liability for damage.
Customers are advised to disassemble such items before the move. Moose will not repair or replace damaged pressed-board items under any circumstances.

Aging, Deteriorated & Antique Items

We do not assume responsibility for damage to aged, deteriorated, or antique items, regardless of handling. These items are moved at the customer’s risk and are not covered under any insurance.

Examples include:

  • Lampshades

  • Mattresses

  • Electrical wiring

  • Antique or vintage furniture

  • Fragile textiles

  • Items showing visible wear, brittleness, or signs of deterioration

Waivers may be required. We recommend that customers evaluate these items’ condition and consider alternative transportation if necessary.

Oversized & Heavy Items

Items that are oversized or exceed safe weight limits may only be moved if conditions allow for safe handling. We may refuse to move such items if unsafe or impractical.

Examples include:

  • Appliances over 300 lbs

  • Pianos

  • Safes

  • Gym/exercise equipment

  • Sectionals, armoires, and other large furniture

Customer Responsibilities:

  • Inform us in advance about items over 300 lbs

  • Understand that specialized handling, crating, or third-party services may be required

  • Assume all risk of property damage (e.g., to floors, walls, railings, elevators, staircases) during movement of these items

Plumbing & Electrical

Moose Moving does not disconnect, reconnect, or install any plumbing or electrical fixtures. This includes washers, dryers, and lighting.

Floors & Surfaces

While we use sliders, dollies, and padding, Moose Moving is not liable for surface damage. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Hardwood, laminate, parquet

  • Tile, granite, marble, or ceramic

  • Carpet, vinyl, cork, or softwood

  • Thresholds, entryways, or floor moldings

Please Note:
Heavy or oversized items may need to be gently slid into place. If your home features sensitive flooring (e.g., hardwood or granite), it is your responsibility to install felt pads or take extra protective measures before the move. Moose is not liable for damage resulting from necessary movement.

Lunch Breaks and Rights of Movers

Moose Moving respects the rights and well-being of our team members. As such, the following policies apply during longer moves:

  • For every four (4) hours of continuous work, our crew is entitled to a 15-minute paid break, which is billable to the customer.

  • For moves lasting more than five (5) hours, the crew is entitled to take a 30-minute meal break, also billable to the customer.

  • Breaks may be taken on or off the property, but Moose team members will not smoke on the client’s property or near personal belongings.

  • Movers may leave to purchase food during the 30-minute meal break but will return promptly.

  • If for any reason a break exceeds 30 minutes, only the first 30 minutes will be billable—any additional time will not be charged.

These break periods are standard in the industry and ensure the health, safety, and productivity of our crew throughout your move. They are also legally entitled as per Employment Legislation.

Bill of Lading (BOL) & Acknowledgment of Completion

At the end of your move, Moose Moving will present a Bill of Lading (BOL) for your signature. This document serves as both a service contract and formal confirmation that the move has been completed.

By signing the BOL, you confirm that:

  • All services outlined have been performed.

  • The truck (cab and cargo area) has been fully emptied.

  • You have inspected your goods and property, including but not limited to floors, stairwells, elevators, and entryways.

  • Any damage must be noted in writing on the BOL at the time of signing.

Important:

  • The signed BOL releases Moose Moving from any further liability unless damages are specifically noted.

  • Damage claims not documented on the BOL may not be eligible for insurance coverage.

  • Insurers require same-day written documentation for any damage claims to be considered valid.

We strongly encourage customers to conduct a thorough inspection of their belongings and premises prior to signing.

Donations & Disposal

Moose Moving offers donation and disposal services upon request and for an additional fee.

Disposal:

  • Must be pre-approved and in compliance with local laws and regulations.

  • Additional charges may apply for hazardous, oversized, or non-standard items.

Donated Items:

  • Once an item is designated for donation and placed in Moose Moving’s care, it becomes the legal property of Moose.

  • Moose reserves full discretion over the final use or destination of donated items. These items may be:

  • Delivered to local charities

  • Given away, recycled, or disposed of

  • Donated to alternate organizations

  • Sold

No compensation or updates will be provided after donation. Please ensure you are certain of your intent before releasing any items for donation.

Waivers & Risk Acknowledgment

Customers may be asked to sign waivers for specific circumstances, including but not limited to:

  • Fragile or high-value items

  • Tight or difficult maneuvers

  • Deteriorated, aged, or pre-damaged furniture

These waivers acknowledge customer awareness and acceptance of associated risks.

Crew Conduct & Professionalism

Moose Moving maintains a high standard of professionalism. Our crew is trained to be courteous, efficient, and respectful.

If you observe inappropriate behavior or have concerns regarding conduct, please contact our office immediately. We take all reports seriously and will investigate thoroughly.

Abuse Policy

Moose Moving enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy for abuse of any kind—verbal, physical, or otherwise.

If a customer engages in abusive, threatening, or aggressive behavior:

  • Our crew is authorized to stop the move immediately.

  • Items will be offloaded at the nearest safe and accessible location.

  • Moose staff will vacate the property without requiring a signature.

  • Full charges for time and services rendered will still apply.

  • The customer will be responsible for moving any remaining items into the home.

Similarly, any misconduct by Moose Moving staff will be addressed through formal investigation and disciplinary action, including possible termination.

No one—staff or customer—should ever be subjected to abuse.

Right to Refuse Unsafe or Abusive Situations

Moose Moving reserves the right to refuse service in any situation deemed unsafe, abusive, unsanitary, or illegal.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Unfloored attics (risk of injury or ceiling damage)

  • Hazardous or confined crawl spaces

  • Active construction zones or properties not up to code

If service is refused under these conditions:

  • The job will be canceled at Moose’s sole discretion.

  • The customer remains responsible for the full cost of the move.

  • Moose may decline any request or task that jeopardizes safety, damages property, or risks harm to equipment.

Moose assumes no responsibility for damage caused in areas where the customer has directed work under non-standard or high-risk conditions.

Driver Hours and Legal Compliance

In accordance with transportation safety regulations, Moose Moving drivers are legally permitted to work a maximum of 14 hours per day, which includes all driving time to and from job sites.

If your move exceeds this legal limit and no prior arrangements have been made for a multi-day service, Moose Moving reserves the right to pause and reschedule the remainder of the move at our discretion and availability. This ensures compliance with safety laws and protects the well-being of our staff and clients.

Inventory Sheets & High-Value Items

Inventory sheets will only be prepared under the following conditions:

  • When shipments are co-mingled with other clients’ goods;

  • When valuation coverage or insurance requires it; or

  • When specifically requested in writing by the Client, in which case additional fees will apply.

It is the Client’s sole responsibility to declare any high-value items in writing prior to the move. If high-value items are not properly declared and appropriately protected by the Client in advance, Moose will not be liable for any loss or damage to those items. Moose reserves the right to refuse coverage for any undeclared or improperly protected high-value goods.

Tipping Policy

Tipping is appreciated but never required.

  • Tips may be provided in cash.

  • Cash tips will be distributed among the crew unless otherwise directed.

Harmful or Prohibited Items

Clients must not include any hazardous, flammable, explosive, corrosive, or otherwise dangerous materials in their move without prior written disclosure and approval from Moose Moving. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Gasoline or fuel

  • Propane tanks

  • Firearms or ammunition

  • Fireworks or explosives

  • Paints, solvents, or corrosive chemicals

  • Cleaning agents

  • Perishable food

  • Any materials prohibited by federal or provincial law

If such items are transported without prior written consent, the client will be held fully liable for any resulting loss, damage, injury, or legal penalties. The client also agrees to indemnify and hold Moose Moving harmless from all associated claims, costs, and consequences.

If prohibited or dangerous goods are discovered during or after transport, Moose Moving reserves the right to:

  • Refuse transportation

  • Remove the items at the client’s risk and expense

  • Warehouse, discard, or destroy the items without compensation

We also reserve the right to terminate the move immediately without refund if unsafe or unauthorized items are found at any point.

Unsafe or Unique Moving Circumstances

Moose Moving is occasionally asked to carry out non-standard or challenging moving tasks. In such cases, the customer acknowledges and accepts full responsibility for any potential damage that may occur under the following or similar conditions:

  • Standing or transporting items upright (e.g., fridges, mattresses)

  • Maneuvering through tight staircases, doorways, or sharp corners

  • Operating in cluttered, obstructed, or unstable spaces

  • Passing items over balconies or through windows

  • Lifting or squeezing items through non-standard openings

  • Moving during adverse weather conditions (rain, snow, ice, etc.)

If damage occurs while performing such tasks—especially if done at the customer's direction—Moose Moving assumes no liability.
Furthermore, our team reserves the right to decline any request deemed unsafe, impractical, or likely to cause injury or property damage.

LIENS ON GOODS

1. General Lien on Client Property

The Client hereby grants Moose Moving (“Moose”) a general lien on all goods moved, transported, stored, or otherwise handled by Moose—whether currently in Moose’s possession or not—as security for full payment of all charges. These charges include, but are not limited to: moving fees, travel time, fuel surcharges, materials, storage, labor, penalties, and any other costs related to services provided by Moose.

Moose reserves the right to hold goods until full payment has been received, in accordance with all applicable lien and consumer protection laws.

This lien applies to:

  • Possessory Lien: All goods currently in Moose’s possession; and

  • Non-Possessory Lien: Any goods previously handled or moved by Moose, subject to applicable laws and the terms of this agreement.

2. Right to Retain, Repossess, and Sell

Until all outstanding amounts have been paid in full, Moose reserves the right to:

  • Retain possession of goods currently in its custody;

  • Repossess goods previously moved or handled, upon providing at least seven (7) days’ written notice to the Client;

  • Sell, dispose of, or liquidate any such goods in a commercially reasonable manner, and apply the proceeds to the Client’s outstanding balance, all in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

3. Release of Lien

The lien shall be released once all outstanding balances are paid in full or recovered through the sale or liquidation of the goods. Upon full satisfaction of all amounts due, Moose shall have no further claim or interest in the Client’s property. Any surplus proceeds remaining after deduction of Moose’s costs and fees shall be returned to the Client.

MOOSE MOVING LIEN RIGHTS

a. Grant of Security Interest

In addition to any lien rights provided by law, the Client (“Customer”) hereby grants Moose Moving a continuing security interest in any Unit, Storage Space, Pod, or similar container, and in all personal property stored therein or loaded onto Moose’s trucks or premises. This security interest secures payment of all current and future charges, including (but not limited to): labor, materials, rent, fuel, damages, late fees, and all other related amounts due.

Moose retains a possessory lien over such goods until the Client’s account is paid in full. Moose also reserves the right to register this lien or security interest as permitted under applicable laws.

b. Default and Remedies

If the Client fails to make payment or breaches any provision of this agreement, and such default continues for ten (10) consecutive days, Moose may, at its sole discretion:

  • Accelerate all unpaid charges and declare the full balance immediately due;

  • Withhold delivery of goods until payment is received in full;

  • Secure, seize, or lock access to any Unit, Storage Space, Pod, or truck contents;

  • Sell, dispose of, or otherwise liquidate the Client’s goods, in accordance with applicable law;

  • Charge late fees and recover any associated legal, administrative, or enforcement costs.

These remedies are cumulative and may be exercised independently or in combination with any other rights Moose may have under this agreement or applicable law.

Acts of God & Unforeseen Circumstances, Delays & Force Majeure

Moose reserves the right to reschedule, delay, or cancel any move, without liability, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Severe weather conditions (e.g., heavy snow, freezing rain, hurricane warnings, official weather-related travel bans)

  • Public health concerns (e.g., pandemics such as COVID-19)

  • Government-mandated restrictions or emergencies

  • Natural disasters

  • Events posing a risk to the health and safety of our team or clients

If such circumstances arise, Moose will make every effort to reschedule the move at a mutually agreed-upon time. These events are legally considered “Acts of God”, and Moose shall not be held liable for delays, rescheduling, or any losses resulting from them.

  • Moose Moving is not liable for delays due to weather, traffic, breakdowns, or events outside our control.
  • We do our best to communicate and adjust as needed.

Moose Moving complies with all legal and regulatory requirements, including mandatory stops for Ministry of Transportation (MTO) inspections and weigh stations. In the event of such a stop, or any unforeseen delays outside our control, clients must understand that these delays are part of the moving process. Any time spent during these stops will be billed at the standard hourly rate.

Examples of delays beyond Moose’s control include, but are not limited to:

  • MTO inspection stops

  • Retirement home processing delays

  • COVID-19 screening or access protocols

  • Waiting on building management or elevators

  • Access issues at job sites

  • Key delivery or lockout issues

Moose will always work efficiently to minimize wait times, but all waiting time is billable under our regular hourly structure.

Customer Participation and Truck Access

For safety and insurance purposes, clients are strictly prohibited from entering any Moose Moving vehicle, including the cab or cargo area, at any time.

If you choose to assist in any part of the move—such as lifting, loading, unloading, or handling items—you do so at your own risk. Moose Moving shall not be held liable for any of the following resulting from client participation:

  • Damage to items or property

  • Personal injury

  • Lost or misplaced belongings

  • Liability claims related to the entire move

By choosing to participate, the client assumes full responsibility for all associated risks and outcomes. Moose Moving staff reserve the right to halt work immediately if safety protocols are not followed or if participation creates a hazard.

Last-Minute Changes to Service

If your move requires work outside the original scope provided at the time of booking—including changes to inventory, timing, locations, access, or requested services—Moose Moving reserves the right to:

  • Prioritize pre-scheduled jobs before addressing the additional work

  • Reschedule the added portion of your move at our convenience

  • Apply additional charges for labor, time, equipment, or materials required

To minimize delays and avoid additional fees, please notify us as early as possible regarding any changes. Failure to notify Moose of significant changes may result in service delays, rescheduling, or additional charges.

Storage, PODs, and Third-Party Vehicle Services

Loading or Unloading Only Services

When Moose Moving is contracted to load or unload third-party vehicles (e.g., PODs, storage containers, rental trucks), Moose’s liability ends once items are placed into or removed from the container or vehicle. We are not responsible for any damages during transport by third parties.
For insurance reasons, Moose personnel cannot enter, drive, or operate any vehicle not owned or insured by Moose Moving. Items must be positioned at the truck or container’s edge for safe handling.

Portable Storage Pods (Moose Pods)

Moose Pods are steel containers and not temperature-controlled. Charges include separate fees for both delivery and pickup, based on location. All deliveries must be scheduled in advance.

  • Sell or auction the contents without compensation

While Moose will make reasonable efforts to offer payment plans, it is the client’s sole responsibility to ensure timely payments. We recommend purchasing third-party insurance, as storage is at your own risk.

Self-Storage Access and Disclaimer

If loading or unloading is to/from a self-storage unit not owned or operated by Moose Moving:

  • Ensure keys, codes, or access are available—time lost due to lack of access is billable

  • Moose is not responsible for the condition or security of items in self-storage

  • Liability is limited to the period when Moose is actively handling the items

  • Client must supply adequate protective padding (blankets, towels, bubble wrap, etc.)

  • Moose offers packing supplies for rent or purchase upon request

  • Client presence is strongly recommended to verify the condition of items at storage

Moose is not liable for any damage that occurs as items shift, settle, or deteriorate in storage. Responsibility ends upon completion of the load or unload.
